  • Your selected quantity of Exchange Server 2019 Standard User CALs.
  • Electronic fulfilment information for the licence channel supplied.
  • Instructions for downloading and preparing the software.
  • Software Mart Australia guidance for installation and activation troubleshooting.

Not included: physical media, Device CALs, Enterprise CALs, Software Assurance, Extended Security Updates, Exchange Server Subscription Edition rights or a guaranteed upgrade entitlement.

Choose the correct number of User CALs

A User CAL is assigned to a user and permits that user to access the licensed server from multiple devices, subject to Microsoft's applicable licence terms. Select enough User CALs for the users who will access Exchange Server.

This listing supplies Standard User CALs. It does not supply Device CALs. An Exchange Enterprise CAL is an additive licence for eligible advanced capabilities and does not replace the underlying Standard CAL.

If you are unsure whether User CALs, Device CALs or additional server licences are required for your environment, contact Software Mart Australia before ordering.

Licence channel information

Software Mart Australia may supply a Retail/FPP, OEM or Volume/MAK channel licence depending on availability. The applicable Microsoft terms can differ between channels, including activation, reassignment, transfer and hardware-association conditions.

If your organisation requires a particular licence channel, purchasing model or transfer right, contact us and obtain written confirmation before placing the order. Use of the software remains subject to the Microsoft terms applicable to the supplied licence.

Who this product is for

  • Organisations maintaining an existing Exchange Server 2019 environment.
  • Businesses with a documented legacy or application-compatibility requirement.
  • Administrators who have already validated their Windows Server, Active Directory, cumulative update and hardware requirements.
  • Deployments requiring no more than five mounted mailbox databases per Standard server.

Who should not purchase it

  • Buyers seeking a currently supported, long-term Exchange deployment without separate lifecycle arrangements.
  • Anyone intending to install the server software on macOS or a desktop edition of Windows.
  • Organisations that require Exchange Server Enterprise, Device CALs, Enterprise CALs, Software Assurance or Subscription Edition rights.
  • Buyers who require a specific licence channel but have not obtained confirmation before ordering.

Compatibility and system requirements

Exchange Server is infrastructure software intended for experienced administrators. Compatibility depends on the exact Exchange cumulative update, Windows Server release, Active Directory environment, .NET version and installed prerequisites.

  • Architecture: supported 64-bit x64 hardware and software.
  • Operating system: supported Windows Server versions only. Microsoft lists Windows Server 2019, 2022 and 2025 for particular Exchange Server 2019 cumulative updates; not every cumulative update supports every listed Windows Server version.
  • Memory: Microsoft's published minimum is 128 GB for the Mailbox role and 64 GB for the Edge Transport role.
  • Environment: a correctly prepared Active Directory deployment, supported .NET version, required Windows components, adequate storage and a suitable backup and security plan.
  • Apple Mac: the Exchange server product itself cannot be installed on macOS. Client access from a Mac is a separate compatibility question.

Before ordering, compare your intended deployment with Microsoft's current Exchange Server supportability matrix and Exchange Server system requirements.

Exchange Server 2019 Standard vs Enterprise

Exchange Server 2019 Standard

Supports up to five mounted mailbox databases per server. This listing includes one Standard server licence.

Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise

Supports up to 100 mounted mailbox databases per server. An Enterprise server licence is not included with this listing.

CAL requirement

Separate CALs remain required for either server edition. This package includes the selected number of Standard User CALs.

Microsoft identifies the number of supported mounted mailbox databases as the principal functional difference between the Standard and Enterprise server editions. A mounted database may be an active database or a passive database copy.

Digital delivery and activation process

  1. Select the required number of Standard User CALs.
  2. Complete checkout using accurate contact and billing details.
  3. After payment approval and any required order checks, Software Mart Australia sends the digital fulfilment information to the email address supplied at checkout.
  4. Read and follow the supplied instructions before downloading, installing or entering the key.
  5. Confirm that the edition, cumulative update and Windows Server environment match the intended deployment.
  6. If an installation or activation error appears, stop repeated attempts and contact us with the order number, exact error message, screenshot, Windows Server version, Exchange build and steps already taken.

Following unrelated instructions or using different installation media can create edition, build or activation mismatches. Please allow Software Mart Australia a reasonable opportunity to assess the issue. This troubleshooting process does not limit any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
